Default Pesky Interior/Doom light malfunction?

-->Anyone experience issues with interior doom lights for GS400's? For some reason when I open either rear doors, the interior lights don't come on, but my front doors work fine? Can't see any switch or button on the door jams to activate the interior lights either? Please help if anyone knows any solutions.... Thanks.

Yeah, I took the whole door panel off and didn't see anything linking the interior light to the door. There is only one unit near the latch that connects to the door handle, but that is all I can see. Hopefully someone has been able to remedy this problem on the forum...

Door catch/lock mechanism has the switch. Solution is to replace the mechanism.

A host of early gs400 had that problem.

Telltale signs are DOOR_AJAR in dash light does not light up. Interior curteousy dome light does not light up.

Ppl who found this while the warranty was in affect, had these replaced free of cost. I dont know how others fared even though it is a safety issue, when you have children in the back seat.

I had the same problem with my rear doors and the dealer replaced my door actuators. That is a signal that your actuator is going bad.

Thanks all, but my car is over the warrenty period! Did anyone get them replaced from dealership for safety issue reasons? I don't want to pay a few hundred bucks for those actuators if I don't really need to. I know some dealers will replace seatbelts no matter how old the car is, but not sure about the modules?

In my view, this is a manufacturing defect and it applies to a number of cars and Lexus knows about it. In such cases, the time period for warranty should not apply. It is a shame when manufacturers use the warranty period for the buyer to discover a problem. On top of this, the door_ajar not lighting up is a safety issue. I wish you and others all the power if you take it up with Lexus Corp.

[ps: I am trying to find out if there is an issue with trunk ajar indicator. ]
