Should I buy a service contract
I'm new to club lexus. I purchased a 1998 gs400 w/ 59456 miles last month. Would it be a good Idea to purchase a service contract for this car? I know lexus has a reputation for producing a reliable product. Just wondered how you guys felt and if you thought they were a waist of money.

M - welcome to ClubLexus! I fixed your post so the picture would show for folks to see your fine new ride.
Couple of questions:
Is the service contract through the Lexus dealer? How much are they charging you for the contract? Have you seen the maintenance records for the GS?

Hey, I love my GS but it has been anything but problem free. I thank the powers that be that I spent the extra money on a CPO. I spent the first two years working through all the problems and now have a relatively problem free car. Except for the creaks and rattles. I'll have to take car of those soon.

It's a bumper to bumper that includes electrical and towing. Does not cover oil changes or scheduled maint. $1500 for the contract. The good things is that they will finance the cost with 0% interest with 30% down. If I cancel they will give a prorated refund and it's transferable if I decide to sell the car. I was able to get the service history from the local Lexus dealer and all the services are up to date. My car now needs a 60000 mile service which I plan to do within the next couple of weeks. The warranty seems like a pretty good deal. Here's the URL:
