Default Bad Habits

My worst problem is flooring it everywhere, from stop lights I will most of the time floor it to the speed limit. I recently poured some Lucasoil Tranny fix in to soften up the gears and it runs more smoothly now. I am just curious as to what are the long-term effects to WOT everywhere. I know it's not Good at all but I just can't help myself.

I am currently at 25,000KM's maybe about 15-18 miles? and I've noticed that the engine is more responsive etc. But I am starting to get considered because I want to keep this car for many years.

There should be no ill effects to your car as long as you service it regularly at a little sooner intervals. I would suggest at least one transmission complete flush and fill a year, not just drain, and also short oil change times (2500-3000 miles). Other than that, I wouldn't worry.

I have made a promise to myself that starting in the spring's I will begin to take it in to a local shop (Mr. Lube) to get a complete system flush ( engine and tranny ) and oil change and all that stuff. But yah I will be getting the oil changes every so often.

Camtrek,

Just keep your car in 'snow mode'. That should help you solve your problem.

You're going to have to do it up in the great north anyway.

snow mode in winter, the car doesn't downshift when it's in snow mode and that's no fun.

I know. And I think it starts out in second gear as well.

That'll slow you down a little

Camtrek: remember that Lexus designed the GS more for luxury than performance. From a safety stand point, I don't believe they wanted the owners being able to downshift into 1st using E-shift. If you really want 1st, you will have to maunally do it yourself using your shifter. This is just my opinion...

yeh, but it still seems to be a little weird. They want owner's to "enjoy" driving by shifting yourself, yet you can experience the full car.

This doesn't mean the car starts in 2nd, it starts in 1st, but you can't hold it to 1st with e-shift. I've never found this to be a big deal. WOT from standstill goes near redline in 1st gear anyway.

well I figured 1st gear was very short and maybe it is to quick to shift out of?

Man I don't know what it is but I am the same way when I drive. I have a GS 300 I can't imagine if I had a 400 or 430. All I can say is just try an slow up. At one point of time I did it but the need for speed has came back. I haven't had a speeding ticket (Knock on wood). I will try and do the same thing. Just be careful with your speeding bro!!

since im in the city there is never room for speeding and that's why I get my thrills from accelerations. never had a ticket myself (knock on wood) but I don't go crazy.
