frequency of oil filter change
#2
Been doing my 2011 (and 2007) every 5 months / 5,000 miles for filter and oil change. Mostly it is time as my 2011 has 15,000 miles since 10/2011. It is overkill but I do it to insure no hassles with Lexus warranty if something should go wrong with powertrain.

i dont even understand the pourpose for this question
why would you not want to change your oil filter ? are you really penny pinching to save from having to put an extra 5 6 7 or 8 dollars into a filter every 5k ?

If you use the OEM recommended oil change interval of 10,000 miles then the answer would be NO. But considering you are in there changing the oil anyway then you mise well change the filter. I have never seen oil after a 10,000 mile oil change so it might be interesting to see what the color and data says is in it.

Not that I would ever wait 10,000 miles; even with synthetic oil; but I'm curious where it says 10,000.
"Disclaimer". This is the section for 2007-2012. I have a 2007. Maybe the 2011-2012 have a 10,000 oil change schedule. Just saying that if someone is going to state "OEM is 10,000 miles", they might want to clarify a specific year and model. Because as I said, my owner's manual, maintenance schedule, and online lexus.com schedule all show 5,000 miles.

The oil and filter change interval for model years 2007 up to and including the 2012 ES350 is 5000 miles (and that's for "non-severe" use). This is in accordance with the Owner's Manuals for all those model years, and Tech Tip L-TT- 0001-10, Rev. 4, dated Sept. 2011, which I believe is still a valid and current document. This periodicity is applicable even with the use of synthetic oil. The recommended oil viscosity is 5W-30.
The 10,000 mile oil and filter change interval (for non-severe use) is recommended for the 2013 and 2014 ES350 cars where the use of 0W-20 synthetic oil is mandatory.
More info is here: http://www.lexus.com/contact/mechanical.html under "Mechanical", "Can I use synthetic oil for break in?"
If your car is still covered by the Powertrain Warranty, then act accordingly.

Sorry guys I'll fall on my sword. Looks like 5000 miles is in the book so I got it mixed with the kids Audi. That is a 10000 oil change requirement from Audi.
