Default Lexus Platinum Warranty

Question: does the Lexus Platinum Warranty cover everything (including Trans issues...i.e. flare) as if were my original manufacture warranty? Or are there small loopholes that get the warranty company out of fixing most things? I have never purchased one so I don't know how good/bad they are...What do I need to be aware of?

As i understand it, it covers everything just like the original warranty does. Had to used it recently when my '07 ES350 front passenger side window came off the track. I got it back on track in the full up position. The dealer diagnosed it and had to order the complete assembly, could not just buy the mechanical part but the whole assembly including the glass. The cost would have been $700+ without the warranty - $0 with. I paid around $1200 for the warranty so I'm just out $500 for now and until 10/2013 when the extended warranty runs out.

Default Warranty

If you're talking about shopping around for an extended warranty, I wouldn't waste my time. I'd go directly to Jerry Johnson in Kansas, you won't find a better deal.

My 2004 SC430 has 31,000 miles and the warranty just expired. I too am looking into the Lexus Platinum extended warranty (or others). Price quotes are not cheap and I am not sure whether it is a wear and tear contract or just a mechanical breakdown contract (think it is the latter). Cost quoted by Lexus dealer on phone for 4 yr. and 5. yr. was from about $4,000 - $5,000. I am now educating myself on extended warranties before deciding so I'd appreciate any advice or experiences people have had.

I don't have the number or dealer name, but if you do a Search here it should come up. It's been discussed several times. There is some good information on the posts. Good luck.

The better priced Lexus Platinum Extended Warranty should be purchased before your Lexus OEM factory warranty expires. My mileage was 32,000 miles or so.

Jerry is great. I called him yesterday and he was super helpful - although he couldn't help me because of my situation. But he should be able to help most people and keeps costs down because many people buy warranties from him. But he called me knowing he wouldn't be able to sell me a contract just to answer my questions. This is an upstanding guy. If I could I would buy the Lexus warranty from him.
