Default Door Lock Actuator?

Hi all,
Has anyone had any issues with their door lock actuators going out? I read the very comprehensive thread in the GS (2nd Gen) forum, but wanted to make sure that the motors (Mabuchi) are still the same for the ES?
Thanks for any help!

I beg to differ

My drivers' door is out...works maybe one in 20 times. I went ahead and ordered one of the motors off of Ebay, and will let you all know in case it happens to you down the line...

Yours is a "one off". It happens, you know.

Default Actuator Update

Update: Well after my driver door started working for the most part, I set the motor aside and didn't pay much attention to it.

Several months later my rear door went to "intermittent" status, and my driver door went completely out. Tore the driver door apart today, and can assure everyone that the motor is exactly the same as the 2nd Gen GS. Since it's the same motor as the GS, perhaps I won't be the "one off" only one in the future.

If so, the threads in the GS forum are extremely helpful, and the same technique of separating the actuator unit and replacing the cap on the motor worked perfectly for me.

Aztec, that is great info. the actuators in my honda have gone out and I wouldn't be surprised if the actuators on the
es does later on. I too have read that EXTENSIVE gs thread. I'm not gonna order it until the time comes and will do a DIY. Of course I hope it doesn't ever break but if the honda did, and the GSs did, who knows?

The motor is mabuchi part # FC 280PT-22125 I believe and the seller is tag16c. I think you can ask the seller to remove the brass collar, or do it yourself OR keep the old motor and just switch the cap.

BTW Lexus charges 200 for the actuator part and about 500+ to fix a door lock. But that motor is about 10 bucks right? This is one of the BIGGEST DIY savings I have heard of.

Which motor shaft does ES350 use, round or D-shaped?

My cable (green) for opening the door from inside is loose, so i can't open the door from inside, but ok when opening the door from outside.

Does anyone knows if the green cable can be fixed by opening the door actuator or i have to replace the whole unit ?

I have a 2007 ES350. While it was under warranty Lexus replaced 3 of the 4 door locks/actuators.

Now that it is out of warranty I have 1 that is dead and 1 that is going out.

Yea, these are garbage...even the ones they replaced it with are garbage.

$300 for the parts from lexus + labor. I have seen them for $225 3rd party. Or $10 for an actuator....

I am more than a little scared to take it apart, but I am also cheap......I wonder which side will win.

Started to have issues with my 2011, 55000 miles door locks. Key fob would only open drivers door, door locks would not lock or unlock with button on door or remote fob. I would press the unlock button on fob and the beeping would go off about ten times. I changed the battery in the fob and have had no issues for a week now, doors unlock and lock as they should. Same with vehicle in motion and door lock buttons. Sounds stupid but so fa they are all working properly.
