Lease Return
Hey All,
Well I'm sure I'm not the only one who is coming off of a 2007 lease shortly. I'd be interested to hear about others' experience when turning in the vehicle (inspection/wear charges, other fees). I'm not expecting to be hit with anything, though I've never dealt with LFS. I'm sure they will forgive a certain amount if you purchase another Lexus but I'm curious to hear of any unexpected charges encountered.
Thanks

Hi
I would also be interested in hearing any lease return experiences from other members. I'm coming off my lease in sept 09.
Couple of weeks back I had my 25,000 mile service done on my ES. They asked me to change all 4 tires which I'm not planning to do until something comes up at the inspection. I was surprised that under my normal driving condition Michelin tires were worn out at 25k.
PaJaHa1, I'm also in NJ. When does your lease expire ? Are you planning for any lease extension ?

Tire replacement is to be expected, but the definition of "excess wear and tear" is the gray area and always varies by bank/dealer.
My lease is up July 31 and I don't plan on extending, nor do I plan on getting another Lexus.
Incidentally, my car crapped out last Friday and is now in the shop. A leak in the VVT-i oil line spilled the entire tank of oil all over my street and had to get towed away. Between this and the numerous documented electrical issues on the new models, Lexus is really beginning to get away from reliability- which was always their key selling point.

My LFS lease calls for 3/32 of tread left and 5 matching tires. What I usually do is if it is apparent that the OEM tires are not going to last thru the lease I replace them at 4/32 with whatever tire I think is best and then keep the old tires unless the dealer demands them - which actually has never happened. The last car I turned in had 4 worn out tires (with a matching spare though), one with a non-repairable nail in it and not a word was said. I noticed it on the lot a few days later with a new set of tires of course which I think is what is often done with a CPO car any way.

Our lease is up and we're now on month to month until we figure out what to get next.
Dealer told us to come in and have our tires pre measured for tread wear. if they are bad, go out and get the cheapest tires possible or even used tires and replace vs. letting lexus gouge me for tires with absolutely no say in it once returned.
They also said windshield chips have been an issue. Won't on mine, but it seems odd to worry about that.
We have our name on an incoming 2010 RX but will be handing ours in a month prior. If we're charged a lot we will not go with Lexus again. I've leased 5 prior vehicles and never been charged a penny.
I am curious what charges others are seeing on their lease returns....
