....on subject of 30,000 mile service....my wife has a 2009 GS350 with 32,000mi all freeway miles. I have worked on all my cars all my long life...no more because not computer savy....Lexus of Marin sent my wife a service proposal $660 for oil change and filters along with brake fluid change, (I don't think necessary but if done correct can't hurt) I would normally do it when front pads replaced. OK the rest of stuff like looking over everything should always be done by any good mechanic. As far as battery check, its a new one...Here's the Problem...Marin Lexus where I bought the car (over the phone) but that's another story....Here's what they recommend in their proposal....They want to put in my engine a quart of zMAX SNAKE OIL...because they say it's good for my motor...Marin Lexus says its a Micro Lubricant that will Reduce Emissions, Improve the Performance of my 2009 GS350 as well as Extend the Life of my motor...this is truly a new miracle stuff...EXCEPT that the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION Case 0123116 says its SHAM and FRAUD and as matter of fact when tested it degrades motor's bearings...I am still waiting for a reply from LEXUS home office as to this strange procedure but I will not hold my breath waiting for the reply.

660 bucks? They are just "testing" you. Run away from that dealer as fast as your little short legs can carry you! In particular, DO NOT use any additives in the oil. When one has a perfectly operating car simply use the Maintenance Schedule as your guide. The dealers continue to sell "snake oil" oil and fuel additives, "induction" cleaning, etc. at outrageous prices that are not recommended by the manufacturers (some manufacturers have "warned" their dealers not to) but there us such big profit in this kind of crap that they continue to do it.

I'm pretty sure I didn't really need the induction service yet for clearing carbon deposits.. But I don't think it hurt either
