I mean, its not a surprise about NJ, NY, and probably CA being very expensive for auto insurance coverage, but I didn't realize other states are so significantly cheaper
Twister, are you SURE that the price quoted weas for 1 year??.
By default the progressive quotes are 6 months at a time.

Yeah, you really need to shop around for insurance. When I insured my ES350 I was getting quotes from CAD$2,000 ~ $5,000 a year, same coverage. Needless to say I went with the $2,000 one.
And don't trust those insurance brokers. They don't necessarily want to get you the best deal. They want to get max commission from the insurance companies, which may not always be the best choice for you. In my example, I had to find the insurance company by myself (the $2,000 one). The other quotes I got from brokers started from $3,000 to $5,000.

When I talked with my agent, they told me my cost would go up...when I asked how much, I laughed. My cost went up $4 USD every six months. I currently drive a '03 Toyota Solara so I am pretty excited that the new cost ofset the vehicle type change.
The cost for my car (03 Solara) and my wife's (01 Corolla) is $617 per six months. That is $250 Comp. Ded. and $500 Coll. Ded.. We are just recently married so multi car just kicked in but have other discounts from home/personal articles policy. Also, we live in Richmond VA so prices are not too bad here.
*EDIT*
I forgot, that cost is for 7 months on her car, not that big of a deal. I am just under $1200 a year for both cars.

Yeah, if you don't have a clean record for the previous 3 years, they will get you. Still, considering that and your age of 25 and single status, this is a really good deal!!! I did more research between Geico and Progressive, and even so Progressive will cost me $100 more per 6 month (for both my 07 ES350 and 05 Highlander together), they are rated much higher than Geico. Beside, I also heard that due to a last year negative income reporting, Geico rates can go up...
