Default Valve Cover Gasket leakage

I just got the leakage problem of my valve cover gaskets (both front and rear) fixed.
The total cost was $502.
Did I get ripped off?

Thats on the high side, considering the parts are $20.

Did they replace anything else, such as the spark plug tube seals, spark plugs, wires and clean the intake and throttle body?

I don't think the price is out of line really. The labour involved is quite extensive, remove plenum, drain coolant, clean old gasket material and surfaces, apply sealant etc. it's a lot of work.

Thank you for your replies.

The invoice lists the following:

VS50588R Valve Cover Gskt Set $59.99
4800 Non-Chlor Brake $6.99
MS95407 Plenum Gasket $80.99
Labor $354

I was expecting the labour to be more. The price they charged for the plenum gasket is downright robbery, it's about $10 from Toyota. Did a dealer or independent shop do this?

The labor is about right, but as mentioned the parts price are outrageous. They probably just played with the numbers to make them look reasonable to someone not familiar with cars.

Yes, very common tactic by shops to make the labour look more reasonable. Those are Fel-Pro gasket part numbers (not a fan of their stuff) so it was an independent shop.

You don't have to drain coolant. I did it on 2 ESs before.....took me about 2 hours.

You can probably get all the parts (aftermarket) for about $50.
Labour should be around 2 hours. I have replaced them myself.
