AC blower speed problem
Okay, folks, I've searched and not found, although I'm sure it's in here somewhere. Recently purchased a 97 ES300 that we love except the blower fan for the AC and heat/defrost only blows on low speed no matter what the controller is saying it's doing. The command is being sent but the message isn't being received.
I've scoured my service manual (which is a joke...so many typos...lousy interpreter) and have checked the controller as far as I can with the instructions in the manual, which says to replace with a known good one to check it...right...like I've got a few of those laying around. I've tested the power and grounds for the controller and the actual blower and it all checks out ok. I recently stumbled across some info about the "blower motor linear controller" which I think I'm down to by process of elimination (more or less) but I can't find one anywhere. I've searched the web, ebay, rockauto, etc but to no avail.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix or locate one of these units. It's located by the throttle on the side of the console behind the lower dash cover from what I can tell. I haven't actually gone after mine yet....ran out of time.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanx. DanO
