That's a duralast waterpump, check it out!

Comparing that to my factory unit on the 3ES, the impeller is a brown color, made out of metal.
Question - How did you clean the air intake?

Great find on the Duralast pump! Lifetime Warranty. Who's lifetime? lol. That was a $62 + tax find. I will be taking it back to the local Autozone and exchanging for upgraded metal impeller or get a refund hopefully.
As for the cleaning of intake... good ole' ATF, gasoline, then carb cleaner in that order. I used a nylon brush and tooth brush to work the ATF in and let in soak in a bit. Effective on the carbon; then to gasoline on the brush to remove the thick goo of ATF/carbon; a final rinse with carb cleaner to remove any residue. I used a very small shop vac with a small tube attached to vacuum out any residue/fluid that accumulated on the valves. This is where i use the carb cleaner heavily to make sure i did leave any gummy residue. I used a small glass olive jar i had handy to hold the ATF then gasoline and dip brushes in.
It really was not that difficult to remove just a little TLC and elbow grease (something this engine had been lacking).
The Intake and plenum are actually worse with carbon. I used gasoline and a wire brush to remove clean carbon from the plenum. Worked nicely. I plan to tackle the actual throttle body/ intake tonight. Plan is to disassemble the intake at both ends inorder to give it a good cleaning. Will post pics. I will be removing the injectors also to clean then(procedure i found on you tube using 12 VDC and a syringe).
Thx again for the WP lookup.
EDIT: Autozone's warrnty dislaimer: "Warranties expire when you sell your vehicle."
