1996 es300 cd system upgrade
Well it's time for something new. I have a 6cd changer in the trunk but am having MAJOR issues with playback. Whenever the weather temperature gets too hot or when it rains, the cd playback skips and scratches like no tomorrow, even with spotless brand new cd's, rendering my drive void of music and therefore unenjoyable in a car I have put close to 175k on. The changer sits right above the left rear wheel and I have a feeling that during wet weather, moisture somehow gets deep in the wheelwell from water coming off the tire during driving and eventually seeps into the mechanics somehow, weirdly same thing happens during the hot weather. Anyway, I want to get an in-dash aftermarket cd player, doesn't have to be 6cd, I'm fine with switching manually. However I wanted to get any inside info if there is a particular unit that will/will not work with my year lexus or one that is recommended over another. I would like to keep the same sound setup, the stock Pioneer's work great, just would like a new CD setup, probably will affect the radio and tape deck as well I imagine but I can live without those. Thanks for any help!

This Eclipse looks nice for the price, and it fits a 96 ES 300.
though im pretty sure a Dash Kit will still be needed....do you have a specific price range or preferred brand?

i have no specific brand in mind. I would like to keep the cost as low as possible of course. I would like to keep my current sound system speakers (Pioneer) as it suits me well. The Eclipse system from the link above looks pretty decent. Besides that a dash kit is needed as well you mentioned? Where can I find those? Also when I have both items, where can I get one installed? Dealer? Best Buy?
Im hoping to give this car to my sister in good running condition and I can get another car. Im also looking in the market for a nice 2000 lexus sc400 with low miles but anyway. Thanks for your help!

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...1B-LS2081.html there you go for the dash kit and you can chek on this site for the wire adaptator . yes you can keep all your speaker stock, also changing the radio should improve a little bit the sound quality. you can also find dash kit and wire adaptor at best buy and they do the instalation but i think it will cost you like 80 $ maybe more ( here in can they charge 100 $ can ) but it's really easy job to do ... there is some guide on forum on how to remove / change the radio so it will be easyer for you and if you do something wrong , it will not affect everything cause there is some fuses ,,, you will only have to re wire and change the fuses ... personnaly i instal sound system in car and changing radio dissiculty is : 2/10 so BUT if you are buying radio at best buy i suggest you to let them instal the radio cause if not, the warranty will not take effect....

thats a known problem. when i had mine working, it did the same thing. that type of technology doesnt do good under extreme heating conditions. open your trunk for a while to get some fresh air in until you do that upgrade.
