They tell you to use Super long life because they don't want you to change the service interval. The TSB is from 2002 because that's when the Pink coolant was introduced. They use the same TSB year after year until a new one comes out that says otherwise.

Toyota is great because they still sell red for guys like us who wants to mix our own and save some money. Honda did the same thing with their cars (phased out the old stuff for the new one around 2002 also). Except they don't supply the unmixed older coolant so you're forced to buy the new one which is fine since it works in the older systems too. It's just very expensive!

Do I need to remove this?
Yes remove it so you can have access to it.

It should look very similar to this (different car):

Yea thats what it was like on all my former cars ^^

Heres whats in the FSM

It looks like I get to it from the front and a little higher up than the actual bottom. The FSM also doesn't mention removing the skid plate so I'm gonna cross my fingers when it cools down a bit outside.

The service manual are for techs so they aren't going to DIY every step. I've done radiator flush for 92-96 and 02-06 before and I've had to remove the bottom cover. I would be surprised if the 97-01 didn't require you to remove it. Good luck and let us know how it turns out

It's located next to the EGR tube and next to the Engine Plaque, right in between the exhaust pipes. The actual tap is behind the plaque and it's hard to attach a hose to it, but if you don't, all of your coolant will drain on the exhaust pipes. I managed to get mine on there. It's actually a miracle that I was able to find the rear drain **** - there is a slight clue in the FSM (it says that it's on the EGR cooler)

I'm going to take pictures and will make a separate thread for anyone who's going to attempt this.
