Some parts of my '96 ES300's instrument cluster backlight are dimming and I know some bulbs behind it are dying. I found a shop, they said they can replace the bulbs for me but I need to buy the bulbs myself and bring them there.

So I search here and find that probably the bulb that behind
the speedo & tach meter has PN# 83119-24570, but since the bulb is placed on a socket that twisted onto the circuit board, so does anyone know whether the bulb that from the dealer will come with the socket?

dont buy it from the dealer,You can get the bulbs at any auto parts store they are #74 or #24

I think there's a sticky on this subject. Make sure its not the connection before you replace the bulb. I thought it was the bulb burned out until one day I read the sticky and realized that it could be a bad connection. I whacked the dash area like the thread said, and lo and behold, the light came back on.

If you end up having to replace the bulbs, you can reuse the original sockets. I did when I replaced my cluster backlighting bulbs with LEDs. Just pull the bulbs out of the sockets and plug in your new ones.

I've always been doing this whacking thing, works for lights inside the car and even outside the car, some of my connections to my breaklights are loose so i always gotta get out and give them a good whacking!!

Yep, ya gotta give those nasty bulbs a whack upside the filaments every once in a while when they step out of line! Let 'em know who's boss!

Thanks for your info! I have done the whacking things but it seems no help, so I think I need to replace the bulbs.

Now I decide that I do it myself (not taking my car to the shop and let them charge me for 3 hours labor), so is there any material online I can look at? i.e How to pull the cluster out from the car and how to deal with the circuit boards? - What tools do I need?

Can anyone tell me what I need to do with the needles,once in a while they will flicker or stobe but then they go out

This is probably your cheapest and quickest option for fixing your burnt out gauge needles. If you are going to take out your instrument cluster to replace the backlighting bulbs anyway, you could do both jobs at the same time in less than a day.

I took out the cluster in my 1992 Sc300 today, and I saw that all of the bulbs in the back are 74's except for the ones that have a green socket. Those green-socketed ones are 24's. Also do not drive the car without the cluster connected as your car will not recognize the appropriate RPM range to shift to the next gear==== I PERSONALLY know this from today's xP. Lol, I had to drive 4 miles in like 1st gear. Any other questions about the Cluster: Feel free to ask me too, along with Lexicon. BTW Lexicon=Thank You for the helpful DIY Guides on the cluster, Albeit on the ES300 I can CONFIRM that it is almost EXACT specifications to the SC300 92'.

The #74 and #24 are LED's if I am not mistaken. Are the original factory bulbs LED or incandescent?
