Repairing parking lot identation to new es350/check safety light
I have a two week es350. Got dented over weekend on back drivers side. A little paint off in bumper with slight indentation to body next to bumper. Now there is a 'check safety' warning light whenever i go on reverse. whats good auto body shop in orange county, Ca? Would it be cheaper to use insurance to pay for job and risk increased premiums or pay out of pocket. Uggh.

It sounds like one of your sensors was damaged too. It looks like the bumper skin and body panel were damaged and the cost may be a lot more out of pocket. I'd call the insurance co. if it would raise your premiums since this isn't your fault.

That sucks!
Thats not too bad a repair, had similar damage to our old LS back in the day. They will repair and repaint the bumper, repair and repaint the small ding (no PDR there unfortunately), and then blend that paint into the rest of the rear quarter, and clearcoat it all the way up and around the windows to the base of the windshield. Cost I would say $1,500-$2,500. Insurance for sure IMHO, should be comprehensive and no fault.
Not to worry, if you find a good shop it will be indistinguishable from new. Take your time and find a good shop though, the silver is not the easiest to match.
if you issue is where it says "Check Surroundings for Safety" under your backup camera as in your picture its supposed to say that...

Last time I had damage like that in a parking lot, aaa said it was collision not comprehensive coverage. Tough call at $500 over your deduct.
You maybe right, the check surrounding area might be normal message. I'll check next time I go out.

Here's the thing, its a collision claim, but it should be covered as a hit and run or a uninsured motorist claim and should not affect your rates.
Its absolutely a normal message. My GS says that, my previous 2010 ES said that, or Jeep says that. Its a disclaimer
I wouldn't leave it, its a brand new car you should enjoy it.

Absolutely. If it was 5 years old or something maybe, but not 2 weeks old.

Does it make a difference if its considered collision vs comp? No fault or uninsured claim in either case would be the same, or does one affect your rate?

We have inconsiderate morons here in Pennsylvania just like you do in California. Bump someone else's car, do over $1000.00 damage and pull away. Makes you sick after spending so much money for a bright shiny new car to have it damaged by some idiot that can't drive. I park as far away from others as possible and still some knucklehead parks next to me. Go figure... I wish you good (better) luck with the new car and hope that the repair turns out good for you.

I've had several cars hit in parking lots over the years and have filed claims this way and it has never affected my rates.

Uninsured is mandatory in our state. Collision or comp, I still had to pay the $500 deductible. I don't know why aaa was insisting the parking lot damage (errant shopping cart) was a collision.
