Audio and aux power question
Took a road trip this past weekend and used my mp3 player and plugged it into the aux worked great, but when I plugged the power in the center console to the mp3 player I got alot of engine noise so I moved the plug to the ashtray and it was much better. So has anyone noticed this and as anyone notice another power outlit in the back anywhere . Also has anyone added a power outlit?

I bet the console power outlet uses a completely different ground than the ashtray outlet uses. To completely eliminate any noise, it will have to share grounds with the radio. It should be a simple thing to do after you pull out the radio.
Installing more outlets isn't difficult. Just tap into the proper power and grounds. Drilling the hole in the car for mounting would be the most difficult for me. I can't see myself drilling into the car right now.

Damn your right its there on page 196. Says to use the audio devices own power.
I still think they should have put another aux. power outlet for rear passengers. Please don't tell me thats in the manual to. Thanks for taking the time to answer my quire.

theres actually a TSB out there..i had the same exact issue... they have to put some insulation on a wire that is somewhere below the cup holder.. should be a 20 min job....

I gave up on using the aux input some time ago and thought it must have been the cheapest last minute implementation they could come up with given the popularity of mp3 players.
Personally I'd like to see someone come out with a head unit that has stereo BT, then I could play the music off my cell phone.

I brought mine in to have it fixed per that TSB a couple of months ago--I was told by the dealer that they could not perform that particular TSB fix due to a recall/issue regarding one of the parts required for the fix, with no ETA on when a replacement will be issued. If I were to not believe that, I'd say it's probably due to the fact that the manual states that there may be some noise issue when using the center console power outlet...which is Lexus' way to conveniently get out of having to fix the AUX noise issue.
