Thank You + New car
I would like to pass on a heart-felt “THANK YOU” to everyone on this forum. If it were not for you guys (and gals), I wouldn’t have had a clue about sooo many things about the ES. Your help showed me what to look for (differences between models, available options, fit/finish) and what to lookout for (missing plugs/wind noise, rattles, poor door alignment, tranny issues). Despite so many negative posts, I’ve found this forum to be extremely helpful. It’s doing exactly what a forum should do, allowing free flow of information and letting members help each other out.
Well, with your help, and a visit to the St. Louis Auto Show last month, we are no longer on the fence regarding the ES. We will be picking up our new UL (12/06, Obsidian/Cashmere) on 21 FEB 07.
We were surprised to find the EXACT car that we wanted, frozen to a local Lexus dealer’s lot last Saturday. Even after two snow falls and temps that had not been above 20 degrees for days, the engine just purred as I stood in the frigid air to listen to it. The heated seat warmed right up after I planted my frozen butt in it and cranked the seat temp to “3”. Once the car had warmed up, I took it out for a test drive (my first in a UL). With the fan and radio off, it was extremely quiet on the interstate (70 mph), smooth (and rattle free) on a very bumpy side street, and quite refined overall. Also, unlike most of the ESs on the lot, the doors were aligned.
Again, “thank you” to everyone for your contributions to the ES forum and please keep up the good work.

Congrats! I'm glad the info here helped you in your decision to purchase. You've already identified and ruled out many of the problems that may exist, so you've got a great chance of having a great car!!

Lex,
I am glad you found info here helpful and it is interesting that even though you were excited about a new car, you still observed for door alignment and that you knew in advance from input here to even think to check for it and shared the above with us all so others could still be on the lookout for that.
I thought Lexus read these forums and would have had that addressed 5 months ago when it was revealed on here affecting many cars back then, it's a shame they have not.
I hope you enjoy your new car and thanks for your comments about the forum!!!!

Wow!!! Okay, now I'm REALLY excited. We picked up our new ES on Wednesday (21 FEB 07) and I'm truely impressed. I didn't have time to post anthing because we were out playing with our new toy into the late night hours. Everything is blissful at the start of this relationship. The dealship experience was stress-free and the PDI/actual delivery were very informative. They even changed the only Personlalized Setting that I didn't like (the car now stays locked when we put it in park).
We are now off again to play with more features (we are both off work for a couple of days). Once again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to this forum for answering my questions and keeping the info flowing.

I have a question about your other cars.
Do you still have your '98 and '92 Camry's?
I traded in my '96 Camry for my Lexus with just 86,700 miles on it.
I already miss it!
