Default mods to my ES

im looking to do a few mods to my 92 ES this summer. since i got 18's the stock rotors look really small, so i was thinking about getting bigger cross drilled ones. anybody got any suggestions on what size or brand i should get?

also, i've heard lots of people talking about replacing their strut bar. what does this do and is it really worth it?

and finally, i've been having problems with my tires rubbing in the back. i wanna get a 1.6 or 1.8 drop but i'm sure it will just rub worse. i've got 225/40/18 tires with 18x7.5 rims. some people have talked about rolling or shaving the fenders, but i dont really wanna have to do anything to my car that might damage it. all you people out there who have 18's and have lowered your car.....what do you do to keep it from rubbing?

for rotors, i'm not sure if there are any larger size rotors and calipers made for the ES.

for the strut bar, it's basically a brace to hold your strut towers in place when you corner. it increases the cornering ability of the car.

Sounds like you have the wrong offset if you're rubbing with 225/40/18. Rolling/shaving your fenders is perfectly safe...there is no damage unless the shop you take it to doesn't know what they're doing. Roll or shave is perfectly fine. Shaving would be better in a sense that rolling just causes the paint to crack in some cases...and eventually flake off and grow.

Since big brakes were mentioned, I seem to remember coming across something at one point where Flipside had mentioned a big brake kit for the Camry that would fit the ES, but the link didn't work when I tried to check it out. Anyone have info on this?

I've got cross-drilled/slotted rotors now and they look alot better, still a little small behind the 18's; big brakes would be nice but I can't put that kind of money into it.

Race Technologies does offer a Brembo big brake kit for the Camry and Solara models, but this kit is well over $1k...that's why I don't really endorse it much.
