Had some major relief today
For longer than I care to admit I've had a vibration problem. It was at it's worst between 60 and 80mph. I really dreaded taking it in because I figured I'd be hit with a massive front end repair estimate. Well, this morning I took her to a tire store and told them to balance and rotate the tires. That's all I told them. They called a couple of hours later and said it was ready. I picked it up and the total bill was $35. I anxiously took her out on the expressway and when I passed 60mph I breathed a sigh of relief. Smooth as glass without a hint of vibration. One or more of the tires must have been grossly out of balance because the vibration was quite intense and even jiggled the steering wheel. Can't believe I put myself through all that worry when 35 bucks would have fixed it. Live and learn.

Tire balance is the leading cause of highway vibration.
Just as equally, tire rotation is important, and rotating that bad front tire to the back would have told you something was wrong with that wheel.

Yep, never thought to rotate them until I was at the tire store. Apparently front wheel drive vehicles are more sensitive to out of balance tires, I've never had a vibration this bad on my rear wheel drives.
