Default 3ES Key Replacement

I know this has been talked about a hundred times, but just thought I'd put the latest out there. I bought an uncut replacement transponder key (4C long blade) on Ebay for $8.84 shipped and just had Ace hardware cut it for me for $10. Works great in the doors and trunk. I'm going to program it tomorrow for the ignition. The key brand is JMA. Will post my results tomorrow.

So, I followed the below procedure and I can't get the car to take the new key. What am I doing wrong?

1998-1999 ES300 Key Programming

Key Programming 1. Insert an already programmed master key into the ignition. Do not turn.
2. Press and release the gas pedal 5 times.
3. Press and release the brake pedal 6 times.
4. Remove the key from the ignition.
5. Insert the new key you want to program into the ignition.
6. Press and release the gas pedal one time.
7. Wait 1 minute. The security light will be blinking for this one minute. When it stops blinking your

key is programmed. To end programming step on brake one time.
NOTE: Look for your security light. This light will guide you during the programming procedure. The security light will go off at Step 1. It will remain off until Step 6. The security light will come on and start to blink after Step 6 until the key is programmed. If the security light comes on after Step 4 STOP the procedure and start over again.

If you perform this procedure too slowly your car will not go into programming mode. If you can not get your car to go into programming mode make sure you are using a master key and not a valet key.

If you have a master key then you will probably need to perform this procedure more quickly.

Got the key working. For those that are interested, here's the correct procedure:

http://s3.amazonaws.com/aftermarket-...gramming+4.pdf

To Delete all but one key from the unit:
1. depress and release brake and accelerator pedals
once, doing both at the same time.
2. Put an existing master key into the ignition. leave
the key in the loCk position; do not turn it.
3. Press and release the accelerator pedal, six times,
within 15 seconds of inserting the key.
4. Within 20 seconds of Step 3, press and release the
brake pedal seven times.
5. The dashboard security light will flash. This
confirms that all keys (except the one currently
being used) have been deleted.
6. Within ten seconds, remove the key from the
ignition cylinder. This is now the only key still
programmed to work.

To Add key:
1. Press and release the brake and accelerator
pedals once, doing both at the same time.
2. Put the existing master key into the ignition.
3. Press and release the accelerator pedal five times
within 15 seconds.
4. Press and release the brake pedal six times within
20 seconds and remove key.
5. insert new key into ignition within ten seconds.
6. Press and release the accelerator pedal once
within ten seconds.
7. The security light will turn off after 80 seconds.
This indicates that the new key is now registered.
8. remove new key. Press and release the brake
pedal once.
