I imagine opening cap above thermostat, opening draincock, drain, then refill. start it up with cap off to bleed the system and be sure it is full. anyone done this?

You are correct. Make sure you use the correct Toyota coolant. I would also highly recommend you get one of these funnels for bleeding the system. It makes it so much easier!
