1994 Lexus ES300 key remote program?
Hello -
I have a 94 ES300 with a key that has a button to active the lock/unlock (blade key?). It has worked for years then it seemed weak work/no work then it just stopped. Found out it had a battery when I unscrewed the key - BR1216 - and I replaced. Still doesn't work. Is there some sort of code that I need to perform in order to make work again? I know when I replaced the remote on my sons car I had to do all sorts of things like put key in/out - unlock doors - etc.. I cannot locate any directions for this key/vehicle.
Any help would be most appreciated
Regards
George

We have a 94 ES that we have owned for over 15 years. I have changed out the battery in the key several times over these years. There has never been any problem with it failing to lock and unlock the doors.
I also owned a 93 LS from 04/1998 to 05/2009. This car had the same type key and used the same battery. I never had any problem with this key not working, either.
The range of these keys is not very great, in comparison to a lot of other cars.
Are you sure you inserted the battery with the correct side up?

Hello -
Well the battery is installed correctly - just for giggles we flipped in order to see. Nothing happened. The replacement battery is CR1216 but the person who sold it assured it was the same type battery.
The security light flashes as usual when the vehicle is locked (red light) and you can use the key in order to lock/unlock all doors when inserted so I'm thinking the keyless entry system is still operational - just the key doesn't function. Makes no sense...
Any other thoughts would be most appreciated.

Bump!
After doing the manual lock/unlock 5 times, door open/close, ignition key combo circus act about 1000 times, my car still won't confirm it's ready to program the remote - it doesn't lock and unlock the doors as it should.
Any ideas? Am I missing something?

Bump!
All the programming directions I've seen are identical from 92 all the way up to 98, and that can't be right. 92-94 have to have their own set of directions because they changed remotes in 95.
Anyone have any ideas?

Programming didn't work after replacing battery
The key button stopped working on my 1995 GS300 key about a month ago and I saw this video on replacing the battery- which I did this am (thank you!)... but the key still doesn't open the doors. I then tried the two different versions of reprogramming the key listed on this forum, but neither did anything. Is there something I am overlooking (like a receiver problem I can fix)? I also wondered if this year and model has a different programming method? The dealer wants a min of $255 to replace the key (and they clearly did not want to do it for me).
