The long awaited Is350 rims on an Es
Here is the story of my struggle to fit rims off an Is350 on my Es300.
I bought the rims with tires from CL member HoustonT for $1100 shipped. They came with 225/40/18's in the front and 255/40/18's in the rear. The rears where way to wide so I sold all the tires them for $425 but cost $125 to ship. Next I bought some Leanni N3000's off ebay fro $388 shipped. Got the tires cost me another $88 to put them on the rims. Now on to spacers first I special ordered a 5mm (1/4 inch) spacer from pepboys and they still didn't fit. Thats when I realized I needed at least a 12mm spacer which ment I needed longer studs. So I bought them both of ebay for $60. So on wendsday I had the car on the lift to put on the studs. Now myself, my Father, and his two mechanics did not realize that we would be working on this for the next 5 hours. So in order to get to the studs you need to take of the caliper, the rotor, and take off the spindal that has the studs on it. Next we had to bang the old studs out. When you do this there is a gear on the spindal that you CAN NOT hit or you will ruin your abs. Now you have to hit the new ones in being carefull not the hit the gear. We just held a board over it so we wouldn't hit it. After that just put it all toghether and you might as well put in new pads and rotors. So after all that they are on and something is still rubbing. I think its the rim hitting the strut tower when I turn because on the lift it cleared it but not by much. So now on to trying a negative camber if anyone who has tried could shoot me some advice it would be appreciated. So unless you have a lift and a lot of know how and patince I would NOT TRY THIS IT IS NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE.

Wow and i thought it was a pain getting on my friends 300ZX rims onto my ES... it was a mission to get out the wheel locks cause my key broke and then the rear was rubbing against my rear shock/strut because the offset was wrong and i had to get 1/4" spacers

Rub it in HoeBag. I think i'm gonna grind down the rim 1/4" inch so it doesn't rub. I can't find spacers bigger than 12mm and I just figured out negative camber would make it worse.

Those are some expensive stock wheels. Sucks you had so much trouble with them. When I put my SC430 18's on, I had some similar trouble too. First my stock lug nuts didn't fit because the previous owner used some weird aftermarket ones. Then I had rubbing issues because of the 5mm spacer. I rolled my fenders and it was fine. I should've went with a 225 or 235 instead of 245.
Those wheels look great on your car though. Tell someone to photoshop it slammed to the ground.

What kind of wheel balance weights do you have on the rims? I had the ones that go between the rim and the tire and those hit my coilovers but with the sticky one's I was alright.
There is a very small gap between the rims and the struts maybe like a 1/8 of an inch or less. So if you’re not hitting while the car isn’t moving then it shouldn’t hit at all. Again the only thing that will hit is that weight. Hopefully that’s your problem.
