Default I Need a New or Used Remote Key 1996 es300

Greetings amigos!
As you can tell from the subject line I am looking for a remote key. I have been all over ebay in this search and I see lots of cases and covers, but nothing like the one I have as shown in the attached pic. Maybe one of you have such a beast you are willing to part with or have some other suggestion for me, except just a regular old key...

Hello,

Depends on what you are looking to get. If you just need the housing, here is an aftermarket option that should fit your needs, even though the quality won't be as great. Other option is to get any similar remote, the cheapest you can find and just use its casing, though it may not fit quite right. Go around local junkyards, there is a chance to find a remote there, and a way to see if an existing internals will fit.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Well we are driving it to Oaxaca and I want my wife to have a remote too so I need the whole unit. Thanks to you guys I found one that looks ldentical. Does that mean it will work? The link says it must be... flashed? by a locksmith.

As LeX2K pointed out, the remote must have a correct FCC ID, it is specified on the back of your remote, any other, while it may work out, it will likely not get recognized by the car in most cases. Here is a thread that explains the FCC ID and how to program a new remote to the car.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

That would be great if only I could read the back but I can't. Notice how the hoop for a keyring is broken? I glued a new ring on the back with a generous gob of Shoe Goo. It's been holding for a couple years now.
I see the code in my owner's manual. The last letter is a P rather than a Y.

If it is the manual specifically for your car, I would say just go for the number listed in the manual.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

So... as I was mulling over what was looking like about a hunsky ($100) minimum to do this thing my wife showed up and stuck her key Fob for our Lexus under my nose. I totally forgot she has one...
