Positive battery cable
I have a '93 ES 300 w/ 5-speed manual tranny. I replaced the battery and noticed the cables were not in great shape. Replacing the negative cable was easy as there was no trouble obtaining a replacement.
The positive cable is a different animal altogether. As many of you know, no one really sells a replacement and all I get from web searches is the positive terminal clamp only; moreover, the dealer has been silent with this question. The Service Manual provides no details either.
The positive cable is in a loom and I noticed there are two cables, one for the starter and the other for the alternator, I presume. Is there anything such as a fuse or junction box between the cables and the starter and alternator? Does the loom need to be taken apart or may I bypass this loom and fabricate a cable set?

Open the loom & replace it, or cut off the terminal, use an aftermarket multiple connection terminal, and add in a new wire to piggyback the old one.
Check the chassie grounds from the engine also.

Oh... That's what that little pig tail on the negative clamp is for... I think I will make my own chassis ground with a fatter cable.
I haven't changed battery cables on a car since Dan Quayle was a heartbeat away from becoming the Leader of the Free World.
When did battery cables become so specialized?
