same here
I have a 96 ES with the same button. It is supposed to allocate more power, but I can't feel the difference when using it either. Overdrive is for highways and fast speed limits and things. I turn it off when starting and stopping a lot and on steep hills where the engine would strain. Any ideas anyone?

The ECT PWR switch allows the computer to switch into a more aggressive shift pattern by allowing the tranny to hold the RPMs longer. Overdrive is basically your 4th gear. If you have O/D off, you are only using 3 gears of your auto tranny. when you have O/D on, you are using your 4th gear of your automatic tranny.

Answers to ECT PWR Questions
I drive w/ it on all the time in my SC. In my dads GS, I always have it on when i drive it. The ECT button holds the higher rpms longer and downshifts quicker and more smoothly. It is probably a good idea to turn it on when entering the highway if u usually never turn it on. U don't have to have OD on or off to use it, but the only way u will notice anything different is if u floor the car. If u drive ur car around downtown or in lots of traffic where u can never go fast all the time, i would not have it on all the time as it will only waste gas. If, however, u are like me and drive many roads where u can let the BEAST out, have it on all the time. FYI, it will use up more gas so dont let ur level get too low.
