Unhappy This week has been horrible...

Today my keys were stolen and I haven't been able to recover them. I am afraid that my car will be stolen or the contents inside will be stolen since I park in the school parking lot. My questions are:

1. Does insurance cover replacing all the locks and reflashing the keys because my keys were stolen? and

2. Does anybody know a reputable shop around the City of Industry area that can replace the locks and keys without having to go to the dealer? and

3. How much will it cost to replace all the locks and keys at the dealer?

Thanks a lot. I'm really hoping that somebody will have the decency to turn my keys in.

and if it makes you feel any better, i just found out my engine and tranny mounts are crushed/broken, paint is randomly cracking on my bumper, and a couple of my puddle lights got crushed when the mechanic lifted my car up, and i got glue all over the inside of my headlights, and my car squeaks like a **** now, all pretty much from today haha

replacing the locks would be supppperrrr expensive. i would just get a copy of the keys and document all the parts you bought so if it gets stolen insurance can give you money for that. The key is laser cut so u have to get it from the dealer. Just bring them ur driver license and ur registration and they can cut you a key. You don't have to bring the car to the dealer to get it program. i think there are some steps you just have to do to get your lock buttons to work. a master key should be around 250 bucks i think.

Damn Tom, I thought I had a rough day.. you must be going out of your mind. Dixon, I don't know who would steal my keys but I'm sure they probably randomly stumbled upon them and just took them. I'll probably have to end up going to the dealer and changing out all the locks..

forget the locks, it will be horribly expensive. you could look into having the immobilizer code changed (requiring a new ECU and reprogramming your keys, though i can't remember how the 98+ immobilizers work.)
