installing new led drl lights
has anyone changed the day time running lights and had an issue with fitting the decoders in the housing?
i want to change mine but do not just want to leave the cover off and have water exposing the inside housing, what have you done to do it perfect and correctly, and what about changing the tiny bulb as well in the same housing as the drl light?

Who are you getting your DRL kit from? There's newer ones with "slim" decoders. I disabled my DRL's but I installed a LED DRL kit on my friend's IS250 from iJDMToy and it came with a big decoder but we got it to fit in the housing. There were quite a few people at the first meet who had LED DRL's. Maybe they can comment soon too.

I actually had a 55w bulb in mine and it looked like a 5k color and blended great. If your not using your High Beams you shouldnt have any issues with the higher wattage since your using a fraction of the light when your DRL's are on. I did this both in my IS and GS and the look was so much better.

Factory is like 4300k or something like that. So 5000k would be closest but its still slightly bluer. I did the little bulbs in the headlights with some VLEDs, not the full DRL conversion. I first got 6000k and 6000k headlight bulbs to match..they didn't end up matching even though they were both 6000k. Both were a little too bold of a color for me as well. I ended up just doing the little bulbs in 5000k and and stock headlights. They are pretty close to a match, not exact, I think they look good though.
6000k will def stand out a lot more. I had the little bulbs 6000k and the stock headlights, way too different. Didnt look good.
I didn't do the full DRL conversion because it seems to be a pain to install. Now I drive with my headlights on most of the time. Or rock the stock DRLs when I want to blend in with traffic. 6000k DRLs will def stick out to people and cops.

i was checking out the above thread, i found the left and right fog light wires, i will seperate them from the control module and wire them to a relay and the foglights will be controlled by the actual foglight switch. very easy to do and ill post it up later.
