Tires Pop Easily in Chicago
Hey guys. I just have a concern that is on my mind.
The tires on my car is Yokohama Advan Sport A/S Tire 225/40R18 92Y
Why is it whenever I'm driving in Chicago, my tires pop so easily? Is it the tires or the potholes? I've never encountered a problem while driving in Milwaukee but I have in Chicago many times. It's frustrating! A mechanic told me that the design of the Yokohama tires are the problem but I do not think so. I really think its just the conditions of Chicago's terrible roads, though I could be wrong.
Any insight on my problem? I've also addressed this concern with my friends in Chicago and they say that popped tires are a norm in the city.

Road Hazard Protection
I would look into purchasing Road Hazard Tire & Wheel Protection. With the lower profile tires it does not take much to damage a tire or rim.

Would you say that the protection program is better than buying new parts to replace one-by-one?

I've been driving in Chicago a couple times a week, now that mass transit is less than desirable. I have no issue avoiding potholes. There are definitely more in the city than the suburbs, but they are in plain sight. If you're having trouble spotting them, then I suggest you take the other poster's advice and purchase a protection package.
