Rather than media playback and control, which has been already implemented and working, this is a way to get Android/Apple infotainment system from your phone into your dash.

just make the car display a 'remote' display for the phone with standard protocols and there isn't much to do - after that it's all about the phone app, not the car.

Exactly, I don't understand why they can't just come up with a standard interface (or least one for iOS and one for Android) to just replicate the screen and the touch controls.
No need for ****ty and overpriced nav's and apps in cars.
