No one buys a Hummer to fade into the woodwork, Des Toups writes in his blog at Carinsurance.com Instead, look-at-me vehicles like the Hummer attract the eye, polarize opinion and practically demand to be judged, he writes. So which cars make America cringe the most?
Carinsurance.com commissioned an online-panel survey of 1,500 licensed drivers, who were shown a gallery of 12 images and asked to indicate which one would be embarrassing to be seen in. Then they were asked to rank the three most embarrassing. Finally, they were asked why each vehicle was embarrassing and given the option to write in a reason of their own. The “Cringe Score” represents the weight of all first-, second- and third-place votes expressed on a 1 to 10 scale. Take a look at Carinsurance.com’s list of most-embarrassing cars.

I don't agree with any one of those 12 reasons. IMO, they're the same old B.S. inaccurate stereotypes (too Girly, too Grandpa, too Large, etc.....), except perhaps for the Smart-for-Two being too potentially unsafe, which DOES have some truth to it.

Embarrassment is subjective, sort of like the endless debates we get here on how someone likes the way a car looks and someone else disagrees. I posted the article because I found it amusing and wanted to share.

I'm actually really surprised the Town Car made this list.
It certainly has a very American sense of class to it. Even if it exists in limo/taxi/"police car" forms.
I might be one of the few people disappointed to see a great all-American car bite the dust.
