Market research stuff means "market research". They present you with something and want your opinion and reaction to it. It's hardly a guarantee or a confirmation that something is going to materialize as an actual product. More than a few years ago a Honda forum member was pinged with a similar setup and presented with some higher performance Honda Accord variants, none of which ever happened.
Given current trends and what Ford already has out there, I'd say there's a high likelihood of this happening though.

I like the above rendering a lot. Give any car thin, slit-like headlights and it will be a looker.
Now if they move away from the past and into the future with all new character, I think it's wise. Time for this retro thing to die once and for all and see the Big Three (or any maker) create the next big trend that we will all look back on 30 years from now and think "wow.... they were ahead of their time..."

The glory days of the Mustang I remember were in the late 80's/early 90's at my high school. The V8 was THE car to have, all the jocks had one, and it meant business. Then the V6 and convertibles were the car all the cheerleaders had. I can see an all new, modern, sporty, edgy, and big bang for the buck Mustang taking up that slot again with the young people instead of the nostalgia people.
