Got to check out an authentic Ford Focus RS last night...2 in America...
April has been a real incredible car month for me and I'll share all about it in a separate thread later. Last night something really unexpected showed up at a local meet organized by Sunny (a member here) at Wild Bills on Thursdays.....
No ****....a Ford Focus RS
It was really odd, we were standing chatting and I see this lime green car driving by slowly and I look and I think my eyes are lying...and it hits me "oh snap that is a Ford Focus RS"...sounded really good when he hit it briefly...
We got someone to flag him down and he got to park next to the "cool guys" like me in front (We actually met for a My Ride Rules Meet and Greet since the Atlanta shows are airing currently). He parked next to me and you notice this is quite the large hatchback, sitting very high and just rather large. It is not the small hot hatch of yesterday. The quality of the paint and fitment of everything seemed top notch with gloss black parts like the spoiler/wheels and big AP racing brakes. It looked the part with that big grill up front.
Inside had very comfy buckets with matching green and the interior seemed very high quality. The owner was a real nice younger guy, he literally bought it in Mexico and brought it here still with Mexican tags. Allegedly he smoked some EVOs who dared him to run earlier that night from what people said.
I have to say as a car guy this really was a standout and something I'll always remember. This is usually a laid back meet with the usual friends and people you know so for a Focus RS to randomly show up (only 2 in the country) was really amazing. There were only a handful of us that knew what this was, most thought it was a USDM Focus modded lol. I almost didn't make this meet, was tired but I always remind myself you have to be out there as much as possible at as many car events as possible, small and big. You never know what might show up!

Thanks, Mike.
Has Ford (finally) changed its mind on the RS version, and decided to bring it over here? Every Ford rep I've spoken with, so far, says that the company doesn't want to spend the money to EPA/DOT-certify it.
Subaru, for example, dragged its feet for years bringing over the Turbo Imprezas. But, when they finally did, they sold like hotcakes.

You sir are one lucky guy.
Those fender flares on such a small car look so mean.
Hopefully the upcoming Focus ST will do well and Ford will decide to sell an RS.
Had a chance to look at a ST this past NY International Auto Show and it was a nice car.

Ford should totally bring this car to the US. They may not sell a lot them, but it sure would bring a lot of brand awareness and bring some cool factor to the playstation generation. Look at what it did for Subaru and Mitsubishi.

Thanks guys. Mike, no Ford is not bringing it here, we are talking 35-40k for a Focus here which wouldn't fly with us consumers.
It is big and people kept commenting on the size. I am lowered 2 inches but even if I wasn't it would have been taller, it seems as wide and overall it is no Mini!
Wish I could have drove it!
