Yes, agreed.....a money decision it was. But you could also compare it to a finishing off a diseased horse, with a couple of bullets, that GM itself allowed to starve and get sick through deliberate neglect. And, conversely, almost alone among Saturn's current vehicles, the Aura, at the time of Saturn's decease, was showing real promise......it was, IMO, an excellent mid-sized sedan, even without the plastic panels. One CL poster (I can't remember who it was) recently bought an Aura and was very pleased with it. It......and its sister Chevy Malibu....would probably have been first on my consideration list if I was to buy a current GM car. But, of course, Subarus, they're not.

Exactly, a horribly mismanaged company for over a decade (GM). The only time that decisions were made somewhat crisply was after bankruptcy, never before.
