Please tell me I'm not crazy regarding the C63
Please tell me that I'm not crazy. I went to a local Mercedes dealership in the L.A. area and they had a black C63 in the show room. Sticker was $65,--- and then there was a $20,000 mark up. When I told them that was a total turn off, I was told that is what they are going for. This is totally different from what I hear where some are getting them for 3K below sticker. But I was told that "they could do something about that". Ugh.
Next, they try to steer me towards a used C63 with less than 1,000 miles on it but with over 150 miles of "test drives" on it. I'm sure these "test drives" are not all civil drives. Then I was told that I am wrong to think that people (and the employee I'm sure) have abused their "test drives". Call me crazy but that mark up and the idea of civil test drives are totally nuts. I know that can not be "what it is going for nowadays" or am I just incorrect.

Its like you going to Macy's weekly sales, where they jack up the price $20,000. You applied the 20% coupon on top of the 50% sales and thinking you got a crazy deal. But they still making money simply change the price tag.

you're correct.
they're just crooked assholes.
where is this? downtown LA, rusnak?
do they really think the demand for that car warrants a 20k mark up? ha!
if you want it, give them the $3000 below sticker, tell them you won't budge $1 over that, leave your phone number, and just walk away.

That is flat out robbery.
Check out some of the MB forums, there are C63's that are at least available at invoice all over the country.
If not, I can get you one up here for $73K CAN (roughly $61K ish)....but you'd have to come get it.

Those dealers are crazy for thinking they can get away with that especially in this bad economy.
Like CDNRockies said, you can find dealers selling these at invoice.

Dan K, I think you're completely nuts here.
Obviously the $20k mark up it worth it, you're paying for that infamous MB reliability and of course the massive exclisivity of even having a C63; the fact that you've even seen one in person is amazing. I'm so envious right now you have no idea.
As for the test drive car, I don't know about the rest of you but when I test drive a car it's all smooth acceleration, never over the speed limit; I choose to just believe all the numbers put out by the manufacturer, it seems safer.
If I were you I would take the tester car @ $20k over invoice, in fact, I would call them right now to make sure it doesn't get away!!!

Bottom line is in 2 years you will not think the car is worth the insane payment. In 2 years it becomes just your car, not the 80K sports sedan that you got before all the pther on the streets

M3s, IS-Fs, C63 are all being sold at much lower prices than stealerrships and stealerpeoples anticipated because of the recession. They're not going to be eating nothing but soup if they tried to mark up vehicles that are everywhere. Next time some stealerman tries to say something like this you got my permission to break his nose.

You should just go there and pretend you think 20k over sticker is a good deal, sit down with the financing guy, and when it's time for the signatures, say I gotta get something from my car then just leave. Of course this assumes you'll never buy a car from them in the future
