Saab "Born From Jets" ???

Yes it is correct. SAAB was a Swedish airplane company that I believe built planes and jets for the army. Actually I believe they still make planes. Some of the names such as Viggen which was used for the older 9-3 model was one of there more popular fighter jets if I recall correctly. They went into the automotive business as a way to expand their brand, but were shuffled around by different owners. Cant you see the airplane dashboard design in their car lineup??
I actually liked the 2nd gen Saab 9000 Aero at one point.

I used to be with the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. They have a 1948-vintage Saab fighter under restoration....looks a lot like our own F-86 Sabre fighter that was used in Korea. Saab Aerospace, today, BTW, builds not only military fighters but twin-engine turboprop commuter airliners as well.
The Swedish air force was always strictly neutral. It was never a part of either NATO or the Soviet bloc.
Saab is not the only auto company to have aerospace connections or roots. Mitsubushi has built aircraft for many years, and still does today....along with computers and other electronics. Subaru once built aircraft as well, and BMW, Rolls-Royce, and Mercedes have designed and built many aircraft engines over the years.

Jets and cars are 2 differant things. Jets have no speed limit. Cars do. If Saab claims it's "born from jets" and still produces a 0-60Mph in 7 or 6 seconds, I'm telling you that's a pretty bad offspring.

Since 2000 Saab Automobile AB is 100 percent owned by General Motors, and is a separate company not belonging to the Saab Group.
