Default Michael Jordan Picks Cadillac XLR-V as First American Car

CHICAGO — Perhaps taking a cue from rapper Snoop Dogg, who buttonholed Dieter Zetsche for a new Chrysler 300C, former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan took delivery of one of the first 2006 Cadillac XLR-Vs in the country from none other than Cadillac general manager Jim Taylor.

IL has learned that Taylor had his team personally deliver the car to Jordan's home here. In fact, Cadillac drove over an entire semi-truck with three XLR-Vs — representing each of the three exterior colors (Infra Red, Black Raven, Light Platinum) — so that the basketball legend could pick his favorite.

Jordan chose a red car. The purchase price: a cool $100,000. As a little extra, Cadillac threw in a set of custom side sills with Jordan's signature etched in aluminum, insiders told IL.

Jordan is said to have confided to Taylor that he has 40 cars in his personal collection but that the XLR-V is his first American car.

What this means to you: The all-American athlete acquires an all-American performance car. And if it's true that his stable of cars has been all-import until now, it's about time.

Cool

I can't blame him. That XLR is hard. He probably saw R. Kelly in "Trapped in the Closet" Video and wanted one also. Caddy definitely came correct on this one.

This should get the XLR some good press.

Hmm... That's strange that he just took delivery of one of the first in the country, considering they have been all over Tampa for quite some time. I have seen a bunch of the XLR's and a few of the XLR V's.... so I'm not sure how accurate this may be...

WOW....i want to see the rest of his collection. But for some reason I believe he did have a Corvette at some point and time.

Anyway, not a big danof the XLR and certainly dont think its worth the 100K.

For some reason, I like the door-stop look of the XLR. Perhaps it's just because it's a masculine looking version of the SC? I wouldn't pay for it though, even when they had the "Employees' Price" Sale last summer.

Default Common.. Jordan can do better than this.

I wouldn't call the XLR-V THE American performance car.

There is one and only.... The SALEEN S7 TWIN TURBO.

I guess if I had a forty car collection i just might ad the caddy, but if I had 100000 for one car that car would be WAY at the bottom of my list

Bull****. I got vids of MJ driving his C4 Vette to practice. He also ENDORSED Chevrolet in the 80s.

Though FERRARI is his favorite brand.

MG nut checking in. And why that old *** pic

I also think the LS600h will fit into that list nicely.

I saw footage of him driving a Corvette too but it was loaned to him by a local GM dealer when he was playing baseball, spring training probably. At least that's what I remember.

I don't care if Jordan drives it.... it's still a POS... .Constant problems.... girley rear wheels, wind noise, pesty wanna be cowhide, and a cramped front seat.... not a real sports car or any luxury by any means.
