Nissan trademarked JX47 (Next Infiniti V8 to be a 4.7L?)
So, I went to the USPTO website and found that on April 28, 2005, Nissan trademarked "JX47"!
To add further confusion, Nissan trademarked JX25, JX35, and JX45 on the same date as well.
My guess is that instead of calling their upcoming small SUV the CX, they are going to call it the VX.
Here's my guess on what happened:
1) Nissan trademarks "CX25" and "CX35" on February 28, 2005.
2) Mazda trademarks "CX-7" on March 9, 2005, but with a December 22, 2004 priority date.
3) Nissan doesn't want the luxury brand Infiniti CX to be associated with the mainstream brand Mazda CX, and Nissan decides to change the moniker.
4) Nissan trademarks "JX25", "JX35", "JX45", "JX47" on April 28, 2005.
Of course, the JX could be a wholly new vehicle, who knows.
In any case, I'm really interested that they used the "JX47" moniker, which may indicate that the next V8's from Infiniti may be 4.7L engines. They couldn't have just pulled the "47" out of their *** for no reason.

Whew, I'm just glad that Lexus dropped the registration for the JX470, or this entry-level LSUV from Infiniti will bastardize the image of the supposedly Sequoia-based, much higher-end LSUV from Lexus.

JX. Sounds worse than J30
Good find though. I am sure Ghosen's children will go nuts about this.

I'm getting nostalgic for names that you can remember, or naming after cats or horses.
Or then there is Nissan - rename your whole company after a 4000 year old Hebrew month of the year, then sue somebody because they have a website with that name!

Sounds kinda wack if ya ask me. I'm sure the power will be nice though.
I dont think Nissan will have much of a problem putting the new 4.7L in the new M.

also...
GX470 and LX470 aren't as bad because the 0 at the end soothes it. It sounds weird, but think about it. Psychologically, it sounds and looks better when there is a nice number or a clean number...470 is a nice round number, but just plain 47 seems a bit off

The name simply does not sound luxurious, nor the car names. Sounds like pieces to some sort of math puzzle. M30, J30, G20, G35, FX 35, FX 45, Q45, M35, M45, QX4, QX56 , JX 20, JX 47, M37, it sounds all weird. Doesn't flow off the ton.
Acura
BMW
Mercedes Benz
Infiniti
Audi
Jaguar
Cadillac
Lexus
Saab
Volvo
Lincoln
Bentley
Rolls Royce
Volkswagon
The worst sounding are Volkswagon (no wonder 40k Passats, 60k Tourags and 80k Phaetons don't sell), Volvo, Saab and Infiniti. THey sound like diseases on your private parts.
"damn, I caught the volvo"
"man, infiniti is all over my *****"
"I got saab sores all over my butt"
As for Lexus, I am not fond of "IS" to much, so much, it would actually affect me owning it. Just sounds weird.

The Infiniti names to me sounds like I'm playing Battleship back when I was a kid. What exactly does "Saab" or "Volvo" mean in Swedish?

Volvo means-There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of animals Chuck Norris allows to live.
Infinity-"Chuck Norris counted to infinity - twice."

How come we're picking on Chuck Norris?
What about Steven Seagal(sp?)-mad TV
I do agree that the JX and IS sounds weak.
