Radar detectors
I'm planning to do some driving up to the Norhtwest next month. I would like to get there fast as possible(speeding). I would like to know your opinion from you guys on radar detectors. I've been looking at two radar detectors. The Valentine 1.8 and Rocky Mountain c450. Have anyone delt with RMR(Rocky Mountain Radar), and V1 before?
Where do you guys usually mount them on the 98+ GS?

V1
While I can't comment on the c450 I am a 120% supporter of the V1. Bought my car in late '97 right after introduction and had dealer hard wire the V1 at the 1,000 mile checkup and never looked back. Been through one upgrade with it for a newer technology at the reduced cost. It's mounted right next to the inside mirror so I see it in my normal line of sight and it performs flawlessly. I know of others who use the concealed display but I have never found it necessary as it would move it out of my sight I believe.
When friends ride with me they are amazed at the sensitivity of it, especially when is shows both the direction and the # of sources. Much more sensitive than anything they use. Several have converted over to the V1 from Uniden, Escorts and Passports.

I also cannot comment on the c450, but I'll stand by the v1. Also used cobra, escort, and passport. Once you have the bogey counter and directional arrows, you just can't go back. I've had less false signals with other radars, but never had a radar that can match the v1 range.

Ballin,
Moved your thread here because we have some other active discussions ongoing w/ radar detectors.
Do a search for 'hardwire valentine' and you'll see a number of options.

I don't have any first hand experience, but the 2 I've heard the best reviews of are the Valentine and the new Passport 8500. I've read a few places that say RMR is nothing but a ripoff.
