2004 LS430 Instrument Cluster Acting Crazy
Here's what I think is a toughie!
The instrument cluster on my LS430 Modern with 92K miles has gone wacky. I mean wacky.
After sitting in an airport parking lot in Florida for 5 days, it thought I was in Europe or Japan when I started it up.
Digital readouts went to
[*]mph to kilometers per hour[*] outside temp went from Fahrenheit to Celsius[*] odometer went from 92000 to 999995[*] tachometer sat on zero[*] speedometer registered I was going 143mph while sitting still[*] maintenance light came on and could not be reset[*] information readout was in Japanese[*] when backing up I got a beep, beep, beep like a heavy equipment vehicle operating in reverse
I disconnected the battery to allow the system to reset, which worked for a short time, then the same display as above returned.
Took to a mechanic specializing in Japanese cars. He said he could not clear maintenance code and the vehicle did not show a code in his scanner.
Anyone face a problem like this? I thought the instrument cluster issues were gone after I sold my '93 LS400.
BTW - temp and gas gauges work fine, as do all instrument cluster lights.
I am open to suggestion on this one. Maybe a tech on this board has seen this before.
Help!

Hey, sorry to bump an old thread. Just had the exact same thing happen to me on a 2005 ls430. Anyone else experience this or know the cause or how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Always good to look for old threads, so nice job. I can't help, but look at the thread a few down "Tachometer stopped working". There might be some hints there.

We offer fully refurbished and programmed LS430 clusters. We are selling more and more of these each month as the 430's are getting older.
