quick123's Build Thread... Finally
#35
Haven't posted up here in a while...been busy assembling parts for my current build and getting things organized.
Well, finally things have been moving along. I purchased the Brembo GT BBK from Mike, and had the calipers powdered a Ferrari Corsa red and the rotor hats jet black. When installing, we had to completely remove all the dust shields due to the crazy size of the rotors. In the process we also installed stainless brake lines. I am very happy with the results, with the pedal feel and the look.
I know I don't have the best pictures, as the next phase is already underway...will post some teaser pics in a few.

Thanks!!! I don't think those are cracks, must be something on the rotors or the back phone pics. There is nothing concerning, but thanks.

From what I have been able to research, this is first 2IS in NA to have custom steering knuckles.
This now allows the front UCAs to start at a lower angle. This keeps them from hitting the upper shock support in the fender well too soon, as all the people on air know too well. I can now tuck about 2" in the front with my old 19s. It also adds more camber in the front as well.
These will be available for sale shortly, and I will let everyone know when and how to get them. Enjoy

^Very innovative! However, I'm not a welder by any means, but I hope the means that were taken to lower and re-affix the upper portion of the knuckle is sound in strength. Have ANYONE put any amount of miles on such a component yet? Is the knuckle cast aluminum? Did the welder have any difficulties with getting quality welds on the metal?

I know the inner upper barrel of some wheels/tires actually get pretty close to touching the knuckle where you have an extra plate welded on there. Are you running anything close to touching it? I'd assume not, but it'll be important to know for those wanting to purchase the custom piece in the future.
