Erik's '02 GGP IS300 Daily Driver Build
What's going on guys, My name is Erik, I just picked up my IS about 3 weeks ago. Used to be my father's car, but he moved out of state, and told me I could take his Lexus off his hands if I fixed it up. I'm 20, live in Northern California, full time student and part time worker.
I most recently drove this slammed Miata.. (in the process of selling it)
Before that, I drove this Integra..
I also own a 2004 Kawasaki Ninja 250 that I turned into a streetfigher.
Anyways, I got the Lexus with what my dad said was a valve issue.. He thought it needed a valve adjustment, and didn't tell me much more. To me, it sounded like a bottom end issue... After attempting to check the valve clearances myself and not having proper tools, I spent $600 at a shop to have them check the valves, and to find out they were perfectly in spec. ***** that shop, told me they would find the problem and made me pay for "labor" although they didn't get the problem fixed (Dublin Auto in CA) That was the first (and last) time I've had a shop touch any of my vehicles. So after doing some research, I figured I'd pull the oil pan and check the rod bearings. Found these guys on the first cylinder:
But, somehow.. the crank was pristine.. Polished it up, checked clearances with plastigauge and threw a new pair in. It's been 500 miles, and it's driving great So, I saved myself a lot of money. The job actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be either.
Now, the only other issue I have is the rear bumper. He backed into someone some time ago, never went thru insurance and just drove it.
(since I have removed that gross lip, and replaced the tail lights)
If you have a GGP rear bumper DM me, I got cash for one right now
Mods so far:
-Kenwood Double-Din Stereo
-Muffler delete w/ stock tip
Also taking wheel recommendations something 18x9.5 or 19x?
