93 SC300 1JZ swaparoo
Heyo
So long story short, my NA-t motor had low compression on 2 cylinders, and instead of rebuilding i gave the block to a friend building a 2jz Miata
I went to Texas JDM Engines in Dallas and went grocery shopping and luckily they just got in a Soarer 1JZ, with an uncut harness, alternator harness, and some other nice stuff. They were great to work with and gave me an awesome deal, so then I bought it and they shipped it to my house.
After getting it in, I pulled the twins off and put in some nice free flowing twin dumps, as access is much better. I also cleaned a bunch up and started installing new components, aka waterpump, timing belt etc...
At the same time, I pulled the old motor, and then cleaned the bay and the tranny. She was so dirty after all that hard work, so I sprayed her down to get her ready for 1 Jay Z to go in......the engine I mean
Dirty bay is dirty
much better!!
So that's where i am at currently, I am waiting on a few things and I am extending the harness, which I will show how, as well as document popping it in. which will happen this coming weekend, I cant wait!

As someone who recently has delved into the JZ world with no experience, I'm very eagerly looking forward to this write up. I bought mine already 1JZ/R154 swapped, and have learned a ton by fixing the other guys' swap. I'm glad you're doing it right, and I'm definitely subscribed. Good luck man!

thanks man I appreciate it! I know others have done write ups as well but the more info the better. Mine was factory 5 speed so I am using the W58, but other than that our swaps will be quite similar.
FYI supear easy way to get the crank pulley off
there are 2 threaded holes in the pulley, run in in a bolt into one, with a large wrench with a washer under it, then place a socket that fits in the center hole and use the wrench as a fulcrum to extract the pulley off.
BAM done easy.

Hey all! woot megamax! w58 ftw? hmm idk lol
So today I have been working on extending the harness....yay.....not
It is a repetitive process so throw on some tunes and get to it.
you will need:
1. wire cutters and strippers(awwww yea dem strippas! lol)
2. heat shrink and electrical tape
3.soldering iron and some solder
4. patience.
I had the old GE harness, and used 20" of its harness to extend mine, this way I can keep most of the wire colors and gauges the same, and I get the shielded wires done so only a small amount of work is needed(no janky usb conversions here needed).
unwrap the 1j harness to reveal the wires, cut one, find the matching one from the GE harness bits you took, slide some heat shrink on, solder it up, and move to the next. I cannot emphasize enough to TAKE THEM ONE AT A TIME, you don't want to make mistakes here.
I am about half way after 1 hour of working, so its not that bad, just be patient with it.

Dude its such a party! and plus I can solder like a baws so...you know, do work or whatever those trendy people say
SOOO I can use some helps, Ive gotten the new T belt and waterpump and serp belt and all those goodies on and shes almost ready, apart from the wiring, only thing is the bottom vacuum line on the fuel pressure regulator goes to nowhere land. Anyone know where it is supposed to go? The 1JZ vacuum diagrams arent very useful.
Heres one so you can draw on it in paint or something
