Hi all, I will bring my 08 GS350 to Exact Motorsports this Saturday for the first oil change (@1000 miles). They have both Amsoil 5w-30 and 10w-30 in stock. So which one should I choose?
I know it's kind of early for oil change. But this is my first car and I want to take really good care of it,
Factory recommends 5w-30 for normal operating conditions. Recently 5w-20 was also a suitable oil to use as well. Go with the factory recommendation. You cant go wrong.
I would replace your oil with regular conventional oil at 1000 miles. Then use full synthetic for your next change. Props to you for changing your oil the first 1000 miles.
IMNSHO changing the oil at 1k is a complete waste. Over on the 2IS forum, several owners had UOAs done on their 1st oil change at 5k, and the analysis was normal, no metal shavings or foreign particles, yada, yada, yada. In fact there was plenty of moly left and they could've extended the OCI. Going synth is a subjective choice, but OCIs less than 5k even for dino oil is simply a waste of time/money . . .
Thanks for the replies guys. Since I already made an appointment, I guess I will go ahead with the oil change. Then after that, I will follow the 5k/6-months cycle.

Is there a specific reason for using dino oil @1000 miles? Just wondering,
