I don't think so, but it does come w/ 3 free months upon activation of a new subscription. Not worth it in my opinion b/c:
  • as it's hard to find cars w/ it already equipped (since it's a port installed option)
  • if you do find one equipped, it's a $600 option
  • if not, dealers charge around $800+ to put it in for you

In reality, the DIY install is super easy. It's all done in the trunk, takes about 1-1.5hrs to install yourself and you can get the OEM kit from Sewell Lexus (a board sponsor) for $270 + shipping using the Club Lexus 10% discount code: CL911M

Search the archives are there are numerous threads on the subject and here's a link to the install instructions:

Yes. Call 1-877-515-3987 with your Radio ID Code and XM will give you a 90-day free trial. (Channel 0 will show your ID code)

That's what our dealer told us, too. We wanted to get ours activated immediately after picking it up on Sunday on our existing subscription, but he said there's no need, they'll activate the 90 days free trial before we leave the lot and then we can deal with adding it to our existing subscription later.

Good to know. Guess I either mis-understood (most likely ) when we got ours or maybe they've changed.

Either way, was a moot point as our dealer couldn't get any GS' w/ it already and they wanted around $800 to install. So.... I did the DIY install w/ the OEM kit. Plus I was xfering a subscription from another radio over to the GS.

Satellite radio is awesome (either XM or Sirius which hopefully will soon b/c one???) - especially if your not into iPods or wanting to lug around multiple CDs. When it first came out, I said no way was I going to pay for radio..... Somehow though, we now have it in all 4 cars plus the house So much for me not paying for radio, but I couldn't imagine traveling w/out it anymore and I'm pained almost weekly when I'm in a rental car w/out it....

Burg, we love the XM Radio, too. We listen to music, of course, but we're sports nuts and it's great to have MLB, NHL and Pac-10. Once drove home from SoCal listening to a Stanford basketball game the whole way. Kept us distracted from the boooring drive!

I just got my GS. I have not activated the XM yet. But I'm getting the news, traffic, and emergency alert channels already. Is this temporary or a trial/preview or aloways on for free?!!!

That's what I'm getting right now as well. However, i know that we are supposed to get a free trial. I keep getting these things from XM radio in the mail saying "your free trial is almost up! here is a discount if you decide to sign up with us." Personally, i didn't know that we had to register to get the free trial. I thought the news and traffic was the free part.

FWIW, rather than activating the free trial, XM is going to add the new car to our existing account and give us a 3-month credit. Excellent customer service.

How long have had your car? I'm wondering if you don't do anything, do you keep the news and traffic for ever. That's what my sales person said but he was not sure. He did not know about activation for 90-day free trial either. But when I looked through brochures I got from them one clearly says there is one but I believe we need to activate it by calling them. See if you can get your free 90-days starting now and let us know.

So you've been getting the news and traffic all this time? It seems like they are always on then regardless of activation. Just like my sales guy said. Any reason you don't want to activate your trial subscription?!

I listen to my ipod more than anything. The cars that we drive at work are eqiupped with XM right now and I'm not entirely impressed by it. There are only a couple channels that I would listen to anyways. Just a personal opinion/preference.
