Bought my 06 G3 only about 6 weeks ago, and I love the car overall. One item that could be improved is acceleration. The 3L engine is smooth quiet and moves the car along just fine, but to feel that seat-of-the-pants acceleration requires a heavy foot. And even then, it's not "impressive". Although the fuel economy is very impressive.
I guess that's why they came out with the 3.5 for 07 (303hp). I'd also appreciate being able to transition from bluetooth to the handset for privacy when needed. Try getting a business call when your 10 and 12 year-olds are in the back seat and the microphone can't be turned off! And, I'd not get ML next time around (not watching movies while parked in my car very often). But, of course I'd have to endure looking at that ridiculous shark fin glued to my otherwise pristine roof-line (big downer for me).
Here's my dilemma. I could trade up to an 07 (no ML) for about $9k out the door now. But, the 08's are only a few months away. I could certainly live with my 06 until that time. Any speculation on the 08 model vs. 07? Is there a price increase expected? Any other changes coming?
Thanks,
Mike

Impulse buy. I'd only been casually thinking about a GS (and hadn't found this board yet). Saw one in the color I wanted (Black/Tan) in front of the Toyota dealership where I bought my last car. It was driven by the owner of the dealership for about a year...15kmi. Pulled in, drove it, worked out a deal and drove it home.

Buying a Snickers bar at the supermarket checkout is an impulse buy. Buying a car at the dealership because it looks pretty is...
$9,000 to get a new GS is too steep. If you want to 'upgrade', sell the car and think about leasing for the next three years. Then look at the newly styled GS for 2011 (new GS should come out as an 2010 model. You'll have one year under it's belt as a new model for Lexus to get the bugs out.
Impulse buy? No, this was a smart buy because he saved more than a buck or two due to depreciation From all the info available on this board about upcoming '08 model, the only major difference going to be some minor interior/exterior details and sharkfin will stay up! plus you get a side turn lights. IMHO, its a minor change unless you will be stepping up into GS460. Since you want more power, I would recommend waiting for '08 models to come out, and than trade in your '06 GS300 to another used '07 GS350. This will be a smart deal!!!
Bush, Leasing isn't for me. A bit old-school, but I don't buy anything I can't pay for. Paid $38.5k for my 06...sticker was just under $51k. I knew I wanted a GS, but hadn't planned to pull the trigger yet. There she was. It was an impulse buy on a car I knew I wanted. . .just happened to be the right color too. Just like a snickers bar.
Just finished reading the cowl, dash, windshield noise thread. Holy Jeez...I consider myself lucky my 06 is so quiet. I had no idea it affected 07's also. This alone may be catalyst enough to wait for 08.
It sounds like you want a new car every 2-3 years. I suggest you looking into leasing a bit more. Buying/selling a car in 2-3 years doesn't sound like a good deal to me. If you go by "I don't buy anything I can't pay for", I would think that you would want to keep the car for 5-7 years. I have a good friend who always buy, no lease. She will put 200k on a car and then buy another one. She has a RX300 now has 130K miles on it.
