Melting Dash
So, my (new to me) IS250 I bought 2 weeks ago had all service done at the dealer (now has 78k miles)
The dash is melted and sticky - read some forums that seems to be semi common in hot climates (im in FL)
Called LEXUS corporate - they 'looked into it' and offered me:
- I pay for the part ($500)
- They cover labor ($800)
What do you guys think? Is this 'fair'?
Side note: I think I may have the cam chain clatter in the morning... :/

If you really only bought it two weeks ago you should take it back to your sales person and find out what they're willing to do about it. Worst case you are stuck w/ the $500 for the part (which I agree is nice of Lexus considering the car is way out of warranty).

Your car is out of warranty.... Lexus offering to cover anything is more than fair. I suppose the previous owner did not care to protect the dash from UV rays or simply abused it.

Hmm.
I remember the 02-05 IS300 having a melted dash problem... mostly because I had the melted dash on my '02 IS300. It was found to be that putting armor-all on the dash causes the melting.
Bottom line guys, don't put armor-all on anywhere except your tires/wheel wells
I would take the offer from Lexus and run with it. Seriously.
