What Is The Widest Tire I Can Fit???
I am looking to upgrade my rear tires I dont have the money to upgrade to the 20's i really want and I am in need of some rubbers. I am currently running the 255/40/18 that come factory on the IS wheels and let me tell you that those bridgestone tires sux. Gone through like 6 rear sets in about a year, so whatever the rear rim is 8.5 inch wide so I was thinking of going possibly 265/35/18 can I fit that tire on to a 8.5'' rim ? Can I go any wider ? And for the sake of the thread if anyone out there is running a similar tire/wheel combo can you please post some pics

8.5" wheel stock should fit a 235 or 245. anything wider then that is not recommended.
why do you need such a wide tire? traction issues?
if you are not making crazy horsepower and dont need the extra traction, a wider tire will only add more friction and reduce your gas mileage. also more unsprung weight.
255 should go on a 9 and a 265-275-285 on a 10

Thanks gents
Well if you think that anything wider than 245 on an 8.5 inch rims is not recommended then you should tell the ppl at Lexus that cuz oem wheel/tire combo on the IS wheels is 8.5 with a 255 wide rear ? I am looking to go as wide as i can becasue 1. I am going boost in a few weeks and 2. In need of some rubber and might as well get the best i can now
