Due to unforseen circumstances, my rear tires have to be replaced. Stock they are 255x40x18.

I was wondering if I can fit 265 or even 275's in the rear without any rubbing or bubbling problems because the rear wheels are 8.5x18

I think 265 will fit ok no sure for 275 man... better ask tireman...

wow 275.. i have 275.. i dont' think it'll look right but if it works at least your rims will be well protected

I definitely wouldn't go larger than 265's on an 8.5" wheel. I have 265's on a 9.5" wheel and that what is recommended by the tire manufacturers.

Minimum recommended rim width for a 255 is 8.5". That's considered the small end of things. 265 and 275 require a 9" rim according to Bridgestone, (and likely all others). 8.5" is pretty narrow for tire with more than a 10" section width.
